Hua Hin Information
Hua Hin Information
Hua Hin is the oldest seaside resort in Thailand and is often mentioned in the same breath as the resort of Cha-am, which is only 25 kilometers away.
The rise of the sleepy fishing village to a tourist center began in 1921 with the construction of the railroad line from Bangkok to Singapore. The director of the state railroad Prince Purachatra had the Railway Hotel built in the immediate vicinity of the beach, which still exists today and now belongs to the Centara chain. The hotel was originally intended only for passengers of the railroad, but tourism had taken hold in Hua Hin.
The Thai royal family has had its summer residence in Hua Hin since 1926. The Wang Klai Kangwon Palace serves as their retreat from the heat of Bangkok.
