Location and distance (from major city): 220km from Saigon ( aprox. 3.5h drive) KBA Rating ( Water surface types: Sandy beach. Choppy water when windy (no reef), shore surf break. Water Depth: : No lagoons or reef so water depth increases gradually the further you get from the beach. Launch Area: No limitations to kiting area. Basically two guys running their kite/wind surfing shops. Cambel – an Australian IKO instructer operating from the Sailing Club resort, and Pascal a French guy operating from Jibe's resort. Sandy beach that stretches for about 15km between the town of Phan Tiet and the vilage of Mui Nei. Further north beyond Mui Nei many more uninhabited sandy beaches. Seasons and Wind Information: Windy season from November to March. Wind is nearly daily above 20-25 knots some times up to 35-40 knots. Wind is usualy cross-on shore North Eastern. During the rest of the year 10-15 knots some time up to 20 knots cross-on shore South Eastern wind. Look for Full Moon Mui Nei Vietnam on the web. Pascall has an excellent website with daily wind speeds from the last 3 years. See kiteboarding schools. Water temperatures (Celsius): Kiteboarding Schools: Airwaves (operating from the Sailing Club resort) Jibe's (operating from the Jibe's) Amenities: Hospital and foreign expat clinics only in Saigon Accommodation: Variety of accomodations to suit everybody – from 10$ a night to around 100$ a night. Excellent value is the Sailing Club. Night life: Relatively quiet for night life. A few pubs, many restaurants, no good clubs. Attractions in Area: Sweet water lakes in the sand dunes. Wind is a bit gusty but suitable for kitesurfing. |
