Location and distance (from major city): 100km from Bima (2-3h drive). Bima: 8h ferry cruise from Bali . 1h flight from Bali.

Location Summary: Lakey peak is a world class surfing destination attracting lots of surfers from all over the world. During the last 2 years, it's starting to attract  kiteboarders too. The surf breaks on the reef table about 700m from the shore and the inner lagoon is good for flat water riding during high-int. tide. Intermediate level and above.

Water surface types: Choppy inside the lagoon. Good surf outside the lagoon.  

Water Depth: : Depends on the tide. Inside the lagoon it is possible to kiteboard only at high-intermediate tide.

Launch Area: Depends on the tide. At high–intermediate tide you can launch opposite the Amangati hotel. Make sure to get out of the lagoon before tide is too low. At intermediate - low tide kiteboarding is possible only outside the lagoon. You can only get out at low tide from a shallow bay about 1km north of Amangati hotel. There is no really good launching area – all more or less the same.

Seasons and Wind Information: Windy season: September – October - November. During these months winds daily above 20 knots.

Kiteboarding Schools: None.

Amenities: Hospital: A vary basic clinic at Bima.

Accommodation: Amangati hotel Sumbawa. Lots of cheap bungalows. The best accomodation is Amangati. Air Con. Twins for around 25$ including all meals.

Other things to do: No night life. This island has Malaria – Plasmodium Vivax. Take lots of musquito repellant for protection. During wet season anti malaria prophylaxis is recommended.

Night life: Relatively quiet for night life. A few pubs and many restaurants, no good clubs.

Kiteboarding Guidelines for area (lessons learnt, etc.): The surf can get up to 20 feet, the reef is sharp. Not for beginners.
